Weekly Reflection ~ February 14th 1st Sunday of Lent

As we begin this season of Lent, the reading from Deuteronomy reminds us of the importance
of showing our gratitude to God. The passage recalls how the Lord delivered his people from
bondage in Egypt and brought them to a new land. Now, the people, recalling all God has
done for them, offer their “firsts fruits” in gratitude and rejoice at the good things the Lord
has done. Everyday the grace of God is at work in us, freeing us from those things that enslave
our spirits. How are you giving thanks for what the Lord has done for you? Do you share
your “first fruits” or just the leftovers? Reflect on all you have been given. Consider how the
