Beginning January 1, 2016 the new rate for St. Roch Cemetery plots will be $750.00 per plot for anyone (parishioner or non-parishioner) wishing to be interred in our parish cemetery.
This is the first increase since 1994. The old rates of $350.00/plot for non-parishioners and $450.00/plot will be in effect between now and 12/31/15. All plots must be paid in full at the time of request. (no payment plans or reservations for later payment).
WHY? Our cemetery is a ministry and not a business. The care of the cemetery is the moral responsibility of the parish. The plot rates are used to pay for the maintenance of the cemetery. Our cemetery fund is sorely inadequate to ensure the future care of the cemetery. The parish finance council has recommended a rate of one thousand dollars per plot (a plot is one grave). Our pastor has decided to ease in to that goal with the new rate of $750.00. There may be another increase in 2017.

Remember, you must pay the full amount at the time you sign the agreement for right of sepulcher. Right of sepulcher means that there is a moral obligation between you and St. Roch Parish regarding your burial in the parish cemetery. You do not own the plot and cannot sell or transfer it to anyone else and the parish is not legally obligated to maintain the plot. However it is the moral obligation of our parish family to do its best to keep all parish grounds well groomed, including the cemetery. The rates per grave are placed in a special account which is used for expenses related to the upkeep of the cemetery.
