Today’s readings challenge us to take a look at our priorities. It is natural to want the “good life” but we can become so focused on getting “things” that we miss what is really important. Reflect on what gives you the greatest joy. Think about some of the “things” you desire—a particular car, a house, some jewelry, whatever it may be that you wish you had. Consider how those things affect what gives you joy? Are you so busy accumulating things that you have no time to spend with family and friends—or God?
